Our First Date

"I had met Robyn a while back as we went to the same high school and college. I always thought she was attractive and I had a crush on her for years. However, she was always in relationships so I choose to keep my distance and besides a few chance encounters, I was mainly friends with her over myspace. And when I realized that we were both single at the same time I gave her my number because I wanted to see what she was going to do with it. She ended up contacting me and we started talking.

The first day I started talking to Robyn, I had asked her to come out with Kalani, Shad, Keanu and I to Monkey Bar on Saturday night. Although she did not commit, she sounded intrigued, however, she decided to go watch Transformers instead. Even though she "stood me up" that night, we continued to get to know each other the following week by talking on the phone late into the night. And while we were talking on the phone that week, Robyn kept dropping hints saying that she didn't have Kyan on Friday night and she kept asking if we were going to do anything that night cause she wanted to go out. So I took my cues from her and asked her if she wanted to go out on Friday night and she eagerly accepted.

So on Friday night, after Robyn did a show, I picked her up at her apartment. Now I should mention that I hadn't seen Robyn in person in years but she was as gorgeous as I had remembered her. From there, I took her to dinner at Mariposa in Neimen Marcus and we talked for the first time face to face. It was strange at first, however, we quickly got comfortable with each other and had a great dinner. After dinner, we met up with Kalani, Shad and Jon at Bar35 where we had a few drinks. Then we ducked out to go with La to Pearl. And because I mentioned to Robyn that my friends had been trying to get me drunk for years, she took it upon herself to try and get me drunk. After several shots and some dancing at Pearl we met up with Kalani and Shad at Likelike. While we were walking to Likelike from the parking lot, Robyn stopped me and gave me a hug and I held her for a second. We went into Likelike and she instantly started talking smack with Kalani and Shad so I was happy that she got along so well with my friends. We stayed there for a couple hours and had a great time. We finished the night when I dropped her off at her apartment at around 4 am. It was an awesome night and I couldn't wait for the next time I saw her."

Robyn said
"When we first started talking Mariano was really persistent. He had asked me out earlier to meet up with him and his friends, but I went to the movies instead. After a week of talking and getting to know him, I felt like I wanted to get to know him better so I asked him what he was doing the following Friday, trying to be subtle about it and not look like I'M the one asking for a date. Right after my show that night I went home, got all cute, and Mariano picked me up at my apartment. My first thought was..whoa..is he really that tall? Haha. Anyway, conversation at first was a little weird because we never actually saw each other in person, just talked over the phone and emails on myspace. We got to Mariposa, I can't remember what I had but I know Mari had steak, he always eats steak. We had a nice time and then headed on over to downtown, Bar 35. We met up with Kalani, Jon, Gina, Shad and La met up with us after. That was the first time I tried a crown and ginger ale and it instantly became me and Mari's drink. After a few hours at Bar 35, we left to go check out Pearl. Pearl was fun, the music was good, drinks were expensive because Mariano doesn't get drunk easily but throughout the night, I knew something special was starting. After we were all danced out, we met up with Kalani and Shad at Likelike, the usual after a long night out. Towards the end of the night it was a little fuzzy but I do remember stealing Kalani's french fries without asking. I had a lot of fun hanging out with those monkeys, I never laughed so much at Likelike. The night ended with Mari dropping me off and from what I remember, a small hug and chaste kiss on the cheek good-bye."
